HID lights use an arc gap that is filled with xenon gas, which emits an intense white or bluish light when the mixture is heated by an electric arc (lightning) inside the gas bulb. These car lights have a longer life than halogen lamps, averaging 2000-4000 hours. However, xenon bulbs are slightly more expensive than classic incandescent bulbs. Over time, the gas loses its original properties, this means that the driver needs to buy a new set.
